HC orders release of music producer Pinky Dhaliwal released citing improper arrest

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the release of music producer Pinky Dhaliwal, who was arrested in a case of attempted cheating and mental harassment of Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma.

The court ruled that the arrest was not carried out properly and issued release orders, though it did not grant bail.

Following Dhaliwal’s arrest, Sunanda Sharma shared an emotional post on social media, calling producers like him the “crocodiles of the industry.” She alleged that such individuals exploit artists from ordinary backgrounds.

In her post, Sharma wrote, “This is not about any contract or money. This is about mentally breaking me down. Artists from common families dream big, but people like these trap them. They make us work hard and fill their own houses while treating artists like beggars.”

She also revealed her personal struggles, saying she had suffered in silence, even contemplating suicide at times.

“I cried alone in my room but smiled in front of people. I was wise enough not to show my grief because if I did, another crocodile would follow me. I don’t know how many others have suffered like me,” she wrote, urging fellow artists to unite against exploitation in the industry.
