Mason arrested for murder of minor girl after she resisted rape in Ludhiana’s Khanna
Ludhiana: A mason has been arrested in connection with the murder of a minor girl in Khanna, Punjab’s Ludhiana district, police said on Sunday. The case was solved within 24 hours.
The accused, Sanjeet Kumar, a resident of Sangat Nagar in Mandi Gobindgarh, is originally from Saharsa district in Bihar. He is married and has two children. The victim belonged to Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to DSP Amritpal Singh Bhati, Sanjeet was working near the girl’s house and allegedly lured her by giving her a mobile phone. The girl went missing around 6:30 pm on March 11. Her family later filed a missing report at Mandi Gobindgarh police station.
Police suspect sexual assault, which will be confirmed by a postmortem report.
