SGPC rejects Harjinder Singh Dhami’s resignation, urges him to resume duties

Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Monday unanimously rejected the resignation of advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and urged him to immediately resume his role as the chief sewadar of the Sikh body.

Dhami had earlier stepped down as SGPC president and head of the seven-member recruitment committee formed by the Akal Takht.

“All members of the inter-ministerial committee will visit Dhami’s residence in Hoshiarpur today and request him to take charge immediately,” SGPC member Virk said.

Meanwhile, the SGPC approved the formation of a committee of academic scholars to examine the Centre’s new education policy, following a message from Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj during the Hola Mahalla celebrations.

The committee will evaluate necessary reforms for Punjab and address challenges related to Punjabi Gurmukhi, with its recommendations to be presented to the Central Government.
