SC urges judicial officers to be humble, orders reinstatement of dismissed officer
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday advised judicial officers to adopt a humane and humble approach while dealing with the public. The observation came during the hearing of a misconduct petition against a judicial officer.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Koteshwar Singh directed the Punjab and Haryana High Court to temporarily reinstate the officer, whose services were terminated after he allegedly misbehaved with doctors at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The bench noted that judicial officers must uphold ethical conduct, as their behavior directly impacts the reputation of the judiciary. Commending the work of PGIMER doctors, the court said they dedicate themselves to public service and deserve respect.
“I have been in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and have visited PGIMER, Chandigarh. The doctors here work round the clock and deserve immense respect for their service,” one of the justices remarked.
