SAD begins recruitment process after prayers at Sri Akal Takht
Chandigarh: The five-member committee formed for recruitment in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has initiated the process after offering prayers at Sri Akal Takht. Former Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh led the prayers before marking the beginning of the membership drive.
During the ceremony, Giani Harpreet Singh cut the first membership slip, followed by other leaders. Several prominent figures, including former SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Baba Sarbjot Singh Bedi, Prem Singh Chandumajra, and representatives from Nihang Singh organizations, were present.
Meanwhile, newly appointed acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has invited the five-member committee for discussions at the Sri Akal Takht Secretariat. Committee member Gurpartap Singh Wadala confirmed their willingness to meet.
Speaking to the media, Wadala said the recruitment would follow the directives of Sri Akal Takht, with no fee charged for membership. The process is expected to be completed within the stipulated time, after which delegates will be elected to choose the party president.
However, SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhunder, senior leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, and others have raised objections to the recruitment process.
