Farmers protesting outside DC office detained by police in Sangrur

Chandigarh: Farmers protesting outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office against the police action at Shambhu and Khanauri morchas were forcibly detained after being surrounded by security forces. Several leaders, including BKU Ekta Azad’s state leader Jaswinder Singh Soma, were also taken into custody.

Led by BKU Ekta Azad, the farmers staged the protest amid heavy police deployment. The police detained protesters, including women, and transported them in buses.

DSP Sukhdev Singh said the detained farmers were taken to police stations in Dirba, Cheema, Longowal, and Sangrur.

The farmers condemned the police action, calling it an attack on democracy, and vowed to continue their protest. They also raised slogans against the chief minister, calling him a dictator.
