Stock market slips after early gains; Sensex, Nifty trade lower
New Delhi: After seven consecutive days of gains, the stock market reversed early gains on Wednesday and slipped into negative territory.
The 30-share BSE Sensex initially rose 150.68 points to 78,167.87, while the NSE Nifty climbed 67.85 points to 23,736.50. However, both indices later turned negative. The Sensex was trading 73.05 points lower at 77,928.26, and the Nifty fell 37.55 points to 23,631.10.
Zomato, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Maruti, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Infosys were among the laggards. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, PowerGrid, Adani Ports, and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top gainers.
Elsewhere in Asia, markets in Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong were trading in positive territory.
