Delhi High Court allows J&K MP Abdul Rashid Shaikh to attend Parliament in custody
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has allowed Jammu and Kashmir MP Abdul Rashid Shaikh, arrested in a terror funding case, to attend the ongoing Parliament session “in custody.”
A bench of Justices Chander Dhari Singh and Anoop Jairam directed the police to take Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, to Parliament daily from March 26 to April 4 and return him to jail afterward.
The court specified that Rashid would not be allowed to use cellphones, landlines, or interact with the media while out of jail.
Rashid, who is facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in a 2017 terror funding case, had challenged a trial court’s March 10 order denying him custodial parole or interim bail to attend Lok Sabha proceedings.
