Kharge calls for unity among Congress workers, says BJP suffered major setback
New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday urged party workers to unite, emphasizing that the party’s strong ideology can only be implemented with political power.
Addressing a meeting of district Congress presidents, he highlighted the role of the India alliance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which he said successfully restricted the BJP and its allies to 240 seats.
Kharge said that if Congress had secured 20-30 more seats, the Government of India Alliance could have been formed. He noted that the BJP now falls short of a majority and relies on two allies.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the BJP had boasted of winning 400 seats but suffered a major setback. He reiterated that his fight against the BJP and the RSS would continue both inside and outside Parliament.
