Mohali court convicts pastor Bajinder Singh in sexual assault case, sentencing on April 1

Chandigarh: A Mohali court on Friday convicted Jalandhar pastor Bajinder Singh in a case of sexual assault filed by a woman from Zirakpur. The court has scheduled April 1 for announcing his sentence.

Singh, who claimed to have cured diseases through miracles, was accused of raping the woman. He appeared in court on Monday, after which the verdict was reserved. On Friday, the court pronounced him guilty.

The Zirakpur police had registered a case against seven people, including Singh, based on the victim’s complaint. The other accused are Akbar Bhatti, Rajesh Chaudhary, Sucha Singh, Jatinder Kumar, Sitar Ali, and Sandeep alias Pehalwan. Charges under IPC sections 376, 420, 354, 294, 323, 506, 148, and 149 were filed in the case.

Singh had already been arrested in connection with the case.
