Vigilance team raids Jalandhar driving test track, seizes documents amid bribery allegations
Jalandhar: The Punjab Vigilance team on Monday conducted a surprise raid at the automatic driving test track near the Jalandhar bus stand, seizing several documents amid allegations of corruption in the issuance of driving licenses.
The raid, which began around noon, caused significant disruption as large crowds had gathered for their driving tests. Entry and exit gates of the facility were closed during the operation, and no one was allowed to enter or leave until the raid concluded.
Sarwan Singh, who had come for a test at 9:30 am, alleged he was asked to pay Rs 1,500 by female agents to clear the driving test. “We were told that without paying, we would fail—even if our performance was correct,” he said.
Another visitor, Rajiv, expressed frustration over the repeated delays. “We had to make multiple rounds earlier, and today again, our work wasn’t done. Now we’ve been told to return later,” he said.
According to sources, four vigilance officials conducted the raid. The investigation is ongoing.
