Vigilance nabs press reporter red handed for taking bribe Rs 50,000
Patiala: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption, on Thursday nabbed Gagandeep Singh Panaich, press reporter for Spokesman newspaper, at Patiala, red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the accused press reporter has been arrested on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh, Sub Inspector of Police, posted at Chharbar training centre, Banur.
Giving details he further informed that the above said complainant has approached the VB range Patiala and alleged that the above mentioned correspondent has been demanding Rs 50,000 for getting clearance of complaint against him filed at vigilance office Patiala. He further alleged that the accused had already taken a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from him in this regard.
The spokesperson further added that after preliminary probe of this complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused reporter has been arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. In this regard a FIR have been registered against accused Gagandeep Singh at VB police station Patiala range.
He further informed that that it has came to notice of VB that he has also collected money fraudulently from private persons to help them in recruitment of Punjab police as well as Punjab Vidhan Sabha. In this regard investigation was under progress.
