Waqf lands to be reclaimed for public projects: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that Waqf lands in the state will be taken back and used for development purposes such as hospitals, schools, universities, and housing for the poor.

He said that the reclaimed land would be part of a land bank prepared for future investments.

Addressing a gathering in Hardoi’s Madhoganj during the Vijay Diwas celebrations in honour of freedom fighter Raja Narpat Singh, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 729 projects worth Rs 650 crore.

Commenting on the violence in West Bengal over the Waqf law, Adityanath said, “The ghosts of the kicks do not believe in things. Rioters will only listen to the language of force.” He added, “Whoever likes Bangladesh should go to Bangladesh.”

He accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, along with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, of remaining silent while Bengal witnessed unrest. “Mamata Banerjee calls rioters peacemakers and has given them a free hand in the name of secularism. This anarchy must be stopped,” he said.

Adityanath also thanked the judiciary in West Bengal for taking steps to safeguard the interests of the minority Hindu community.

The Chief Minister reiterated that no one would be allowed to illegally occupy land under the guise of Waqf, adding that many are upset because “the loot done in the name of land is going to stop now.”
