US imposes up to 245% tariffs on Chinese imports amid ongoing trade tensions
Washington: The White House on Tuesday announced that China will now face tariffs of up to 245 per cent on imports into the United States, in response to Beijing’s retaliatory actions during the ongoing trade war between the two largest global economies.
In a separate post on the social media platform Truth Social, President Donald Trump said that China has refused to proceed with a major aircraft deal involving American manufacturer Boeing. Reports suggest that Chinese authorities have instructed their airlines not to accept the delivery of Boeing aircraft.
Referring to these developments, Trump reiterated his commitment to defending the United States and its farmers amid the escalating trade dispute with countries like China.
“President Trump has signed an executive order launching an investigation into national security threats arising from US reliance on imported processed minerals and products made from them,” the White House said in a fact sheet released on Tuesday.
