PM Modi chairs CCS meeting after Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi: A day after a deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam left 26 people dead, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to assess the situation and discuss the government’s response.

Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and senior bureaucrats were present at the meeting.

Officials said Shah briefed the Prime Minister on the details of the attack and discussed the steps to be taken in its aftermath. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is also a CCS member, could not attend the meeting as she was returning from an official visit to the United States, which was cut short following the incident.

Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretaries P K Mishra and Shaktikanta Das also attended the high-level meeting.
