Punjab government directs employees to remain available on phones at all times
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has directed all government employees to remain available on their mobile phones at all times, including after office hours and on public holidays. The orders have been issued by the Personnel Department.
According to the directive, officers of the rank of subordinate secretary and above have been instructed to ensure that employees under their supervision do not switch off their phones after working hours.
Officials have been told to keep their phones accessible due to the demands of public and administrative work.
The order mentioned that sometimes administrative tasks require immediate action, making it essential for officers to be reachable.
“It has been observed that sometimes their phones are switched off, out of network, or calls are diverted to another number. Due to this, administrative work is affected,” the order said.
