Majitha spurious liquor case: kingpin among 10 held, DSP and SHO suspended for negligence

Amritsar: Acting swiftly after the deaths caused by spurious liquor in Majitha, Amritsar, the Punjab Police have arrested several individuals involved in the illicit trade, including the kingpin and the main methanol suppliers.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, said that Sahib Singh, the alleged kingpin of the racket, has been arrested. Two main suppliers of methanol — a toxic chemical commonly used in industrial products — have also been identified and held. They are Pankaj Kumar alias Sahil and Arvind Kumar, owners of Sahil Chemicals located in Sukh Enclave, Ludhiana.
Among the others arrested are local distributors Prabhjit Singh and Kulbir Singh, and vendors identified as Ninder Kaur, Sahib Singh, Gurjant Singh, Arun alias Kala, and Sikander Singh alias Pappu.
Police investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to crack down on the illicit liquor network responsible for the tragedy.
