Kartarpur Corridor should be reopened soon, says Akal Takht acting Jathedar

Amritsar: Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has urged the governments of India and Pakistan to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, citing improved relations between the two countries.
He said Sikhs pray daily for open access to historic gurdwaras, and reopening the corridor would not only fulfil these sentiments but also contribute to a peaceful atmosphere and strengthen bilateral ties.
“Since the corridor was first opened, a large number of Sikh devotees have travelled to pay obeisance at Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal, the sacred Gurdwara of Guru Nanak Dev ji. The feelings of the Sikh community should be respected by reopening the corridor at the earliest,” he said.
The Jathedar stressed that the region currently needs peace, progress, mutual harmony and not conflict. He also praised national and international leaders who have played a responsible role in easing tensions in the region.
