AAP MLA and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh resigns as chairman of Government Assurance Committee
Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Amritsar North and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh has resigned as chairman of the Government Assurance Committee of the Punjab Assembly after being disappointed over not getting justice in sacrilege cases.
He has sent his resignation via e-mail to Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, though his resignation has not been accepted yet.
The Speaker has to take a decision in this regard.
In the Legislative Assembly committees formed this year, the Speaker appointed Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh as the chairman of the Government Assurance Committee, whose job is to get the assurances given to the MLAs by the ministers in the Assembly. During the Assembly session, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh held a long discussion on the investigation of blasphemy cases and requested the Speaker to keep a full day for discussion in this regard, but his demand was not accepted.
