Court extends police remand of YouTuber Jasbir Singh in espionage case

Chandigarh: A court in SAS Nagar on Saturday extended by two days the police remand of Punjab-based YouTuber Jasbir Singh, who was arrested on June 4 on charges of spying for Pakistan.

Singh was produced before the court after the expiry of his initial three-day police remand. While police sought an extension of seven days, the court granted a two-day extension.

According to officials, Singh is allegedly linked to influencer Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently in custody on similar charges of espionage. Police claim Malhotra had exposed a “terrorist-backed espionage network” with alleged links to Pakistani intelligence and military agencies.

Singh’s lawyer was present in court and confirmed the remand proceedings. Further investigation into the alleged espionage network is ongoing.
