California: A 24-year-old Punjabi youth from Atla village near Patiala has been shot dead by unidentified assailants in California, United States, leaving his family and village in mourning.
The deceased, Khushkarandeep Singh, had moved to the US around five years ago to support his family. He was working as a truck driver in California.
According to community updates and preliminary reports, the family lost contact with him after July 30, when his mobile phone was suddenly switched off. Concerned relatives later alerted the authorities.
Acting on the complaints, law enforcement agencies in California launched a search operation. Khushkarandeep Singh’s body was later recovered from a wooded area.
Police have launched an investigation into the killing and are working to identify the attackers. The motive behind the murder has not yet been disclosed.
