Ram Rahim’s parole to be heard in High Court today: SGPC challenges his bail

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is scheduled to hear today a petition challenging the dera chief’s parole. During this time, other respondent parties, including the Dera chief, Punjab government and the Haryana government, have to file their reply.

During the last hearing of the case, the High Court had issued notices to dera head and other respondent parties, including the Haryana government, seeking their response on February 17. A notice was sent to the Dera chief by the High Court.
In the petition filed by the SGPC, Haryana Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Rohtak Commissioner, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary of Punjab Home Department, Union Home Secretary, Sunaria Jail Superintendent, Rohtak DC and Dera chief Gurmeet Singh have been made respondents. The petition has alleged violation of statutory rules in granting parole by Rohtak divisional commissioner.
