New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct a re-examination for the UGC NET June 2026 papers in English, Commerce and Sociology after an expert committee found several errors in the question papers.
The committee, constituted by the NTA to examine complaints from candidates, found multiple factual, typing and translation errors in all three papers. The errors reportedly included incorrect spellings of prominent scholars’ names, distorted book titles, grammatical mistakes and problems in the structure of questions.
The committee also identified discrepancies involving numbers and symbols, along with the use of non-standard terminology for established concepts.
Candidates had raised several complaints
The NTA had received complaints from candidates following the UGC NET June 2026 examination, which was conducted across the country between June 22 and 30 for 87 subjects.
Candidates had particularly pointed out spelling, grammar and translation errors in the Sociology paper, including incorrect names of prominent sociologists. There were also allegations that questions from previous years had been repeated in the English paper.
Following the complaints, the NTA constituted a committee to examine the concerns.
The committee concluded that the three papers contained numerous errors and also found that several previously asked questions had been included again. The NTA will now conduct fresh examinations for the affected subjects.
