Bathinda: Amritpal Singh Mehron, the main accused in the high-profile murder case of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as ‘Kamal Kaur Bhabi’, was taken from Bathinda Central Jail to the local Civil Hospital under tight security on Wednesday.
Mehron underwent a medical examination and ultrasound at the hospital before being taken back to the jail.
Accused seeks treatment for kidney stones
Mehron’s lawyer, Manpreet Singh Brar, had told the court that the accused has 8mm and 9mm stones in his two kidneys and requires medical treatment.
He was previously taken to AIIMS on June 20, where doctors prescribed medication.
Murder case
Kanchan Kumari, a Ludhiana resident, was found dead inside a car parked near Adesh University on the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway in June last year.
According to The Tribune and Punjab Police, the murder was allegedly linked to “moral policing.”
Mehron, who had fled to the UAE following the murder, was deported to India on April 10 this year.
Four accused are currently in jail, while a fifth accused, Shamsher Singh Shera, remains absconding.
