Gandhinagar: A major accident occurred at an under-construction building site in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar late Wednesday night after a large section of a crane collapsed during construction work.
At least 11 workers were injured, while several others are feared trapped under the debris, according to preliminary reports.
The incident took place near Reliance Chowk at the construction site of a building named Bosky The Empire. Workers were reportedly installing an iron structure between two sections of the building when the crane and a heavy portion of the structure fell.
The loud sound of the collapse prompted nearby residents to gather at the site.
Police and teams from the Gandhinagar Fire Brigade reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Several ambulances were also dispatched to the location.
Rescue and relief operations are underway to locate and evacuate workers trapped beneath the debris. Preliminary reports suggested that 10 to 15 workers could be trapped, although the exact number remains unclear.
