Gurugram road rage: Car driver arrested after woman biker alleges deliberate hit-and-run

Gurugram: Gurugram Police have arrested the car driver accused of allegedly hitting a woman biker on Golf Course Road and fleeing the spot.

The incident took place on Sunday when Sia, who was riding her Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with a group of bikers, alleged that a car driver first signalled her to stop and then turned the vehicle towards her bike, hitting it from the side.

Police had taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and registered an FIR at Sector 56 police station under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving and causing hurt.

Videos of the incident have surfaced on social media. One purportedly shows the car being turned towards Sia’s bike, while another was recorded by a biker travelling behind her.

Sia alleged that the driver deliberately targeted her because she was a woman biker and did not stop after the collision to check whether she was safe. She also claimed that the occupants of the car appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The accused, Bansla, has denied deliberately hitting Sia. He admitted that the accident was his fault but claimed that he lost control of the car near a U-turn.

ACP (Headquarters) Abhilakh Joshi said police had identified the accused and formed three special teams to trace him. The accused has now been arrested as part of the investigation.
