Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has clarified that the Punjab Police has not issued any advisory asking personnel to wear civilian clothes instead of uniforms following the recent killing of an ASI in Amritsar.
Cheema alleged that opposition parties, including the Congress, BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal, were attempting to malign the Punjab Police and the state government through the circulation of such claims.
He said the person responsible for sharing the post on social media would be identified and appropriate legal action would be taken. The finance minister also urged the person who uploaded the post to delete it immediately.
