Washington: The bilateral meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump at the White House has concluded.
Trump said the US and China were friends and that the interests of the two countries were interconnected.
Xi said cooperation between the two countries would be beneficial for both sides, while confrontation would harm both.
The Chinese president said the relationship should be based on a “race, not wrestling”, with the two countries seeking to outpace each other rather than engage in a contest where one side wins and the other loses
