New York: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday gave a sharp response to a Pakistani journalist who questioned India over terrorism during a press interaction at the United Nations headquarters.
The journalist asked Jaishankar, “When will your government stop sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan?”
Responding to the question, Jaishankar said, “A country of terrorists is asking me this question. This is the limit.”
Jaishankar and Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti were addressing the media on the Group of Friends on Safety and Security of Shipping and Seafarers at the UN headquarters when the Pakistani journalist raised the question.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Harish Parvathaneni, also intervened, telling the journalist, “You have heard your answer. You have heard your answer clearly and unambiguously.”
The exchange came a day after an Indian journalist had questioned Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif while he was entering the UN building, asking him when Pakistan would stop sheltering terrorists.
