New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening joined members of Gen Z at Deen Dayal Park in Delhi for a ‘bhajan clubbing’ programme organised to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
During the event, Modi played the khanjari and was also seen humming along to devotional songs.
The Prime Minister’s participation came a day after the opposition raised concerns over the voting rights of Gen Z. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had also raised the issue during a press conference.
Gen Z is expected to be an important demographic for political parties, with the source stating that 36.74 crore voters — around 26% of the country’s population — would belong to this generation in the 2029 general election.
Modi had spoken about the growing trend of bhajan clubbing during his Australia visit in July, when he referred to the trend in Melbourne. He had praised the younger generation for combining their cultural roots and faith with a modern lifestyle.
He had said that the bhajan clubbing trend was being carried forward by Gen Z. Modi had also praised the trend during his Mann Ki Baat programme in January 2026.
