Mansa: Beant Kaur, the woman station house officer (SHO) of Mansa City-2 police station, has been suspended with immediate effect following the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta.
The action comes after Jhotta’s father, Bhim Singh, alleged that authorities had failed to act on several complaints and information provided by his son about suspected drug traffickers.

Deputy inspector general (DIG) Harjeet Singh had also said that action would be taken against police officers and personnel if negligence was established in connection with the case.
Mansa senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vaibhav Chaudhary confirmed Beant Kaur’s suspension. According to the report, she has been sent to the police lines and transferred out of the district.
The action comes amid growing demands for accountability over the circumstances surrounding Jhotta’s killing and the handling of his complaints about alleged drug-related activities.
