Mansa cancels Ramlila programmes and Dussehra celebrations over Parvinder Jhotta’s killing

Mansa: The Aggarwal community has expressed solidarity over the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta, describing the incident as tragic and condemnable. Organisers have also cancelled Dussehra celebrations and Ramlila programmes in Mansa in response to the incident.

Praveen Goyal, president of the Subhash Ram Dramatic Club, and Baljit Sharma, the club’s press secretary, said Jhotta had raised his voice against drug abuse. They said the community was expressing support on humanitarian grounds and shared the grief over his killing.

Meanwhile, a court in Mansa has remanded medical store owner Ashwini Kumar, the main accused in the murder case, and Vipin Garg, who is accused of sheltering him, to police custody until October 25.

The two were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajinder Prasad through video conferencing, according to police officials.

Kumar was arrested in Salasar, Rajasthan, on Tuesday after allegedly fleeing following Jhotta’s killing. Mansa City-2 police registered a case against Kumar and others based on a complaint by Jhotta’s father, Bhim Singh.

Bathinda Range DIG Harjeet Singh had earlier said that three people had been arrested in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing.
