Panchkula school assault case: JJB sends 8-year-old boy to Ambala observation home

Panchkula: The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Panchkula, has ordered that an eight-year-old boy accused of seriously injuring a six-year-old girl at a private school in Sector 20 be sent to an observation home in Ambala while the investigation continues.

The board said the child should be kept in a place of safety for his own protection pending the inquiry. It has scheduled the next hearing for November 4, when the boy will have to be produced in person. The board has also directed that he be taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh, for a medical examination.

According to police, the incident took place on October 28 during school hours. After school ended, the girl did not come out, prompting the auto-rickshaw driver to call her father.

When the father reached the school and began searching for her, another student reportedly told him that the girl was in a room on the first floor. Her father alleged that the room was latched from outside and that, on looking through a window, he found his daughter lying on the floor covered in blood.

The girl was allegedly attacked repeatedly with bricks, suffering serious head injuries. She was initially taken to a private hospital and later shifted to the intensive care unit at PGI Chandigarh.

Her condition was reported to be critical but stable. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
