Jalandhar Police Impose Strict Restrictions on Firecracker Sale and Use Ahead of Diwali, Christmas and Gurpurab

Jalandhar News: In view of the upcoming festive season, Police Commissioner Jalandhar Satinder Singh has issued strict orders regulating the sale, storage and use of firecrackers across the Police Commissionerate area under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
According to the orders, the sale of firecrackers will be permitted only through authorised licensed shops. Selling firecrackers at any unauthorised location within the jurisdiction of the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has been prohibited.
The orders also impose a complete ban on bursting firecrackers in silence zones, including areas near hospitals and educational institutions. Firecrackers will also be prohibited within village boundaries and within a 500-yard radius of oil terminals operated by Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The police have further prohibited imported firecrackers disguised as toys or electronic items. Licensed vendors will be allowed to purchase only approved firecrackers from licensed manufacturers or companies and can sell exclusively green firecrackers.
The manufacturing, sale and use of joined firecrackers, including series crackers or laris, have also been completely prohibited due to concerns over air pollution, noise pollution and solid waste generation.
Furthermore, licensed dealers have been directed not to stock, display or sell foreign-origin firecrackers. The storage of firecrackers will only be permitted at officially authorised licensed premises within the Commissionerate limits.
