Vigilance Bureau registers bribery case against SHO, his gunman
Punjab E News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state on Thursday, registered a corruption case against an Inspector Naveen Kumar, posted as SHO Ferozepur Cantonment and his gunman Jatinder Gill, a Punjab Home Guard (PHG) volunteer, for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000. In this case SHO Naveen Kumar has been arrested and PHG volunteer would be arrested as the teams have been formed.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said Inspector have been arrested on the complaint of Lalit Kumar Passi, resident of Ferozepur Cantonment.
Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said SHO has demanded Rs 20,000 as a bribe to help him in a police case registered by him against the other party. The complainant has recorded the conversation while the accused was demanding the bribe and submitted to the VB as an evidence to book the accused.
The spokesperson informed that the VB team from Ferozepur unit laid a trap and arrested the accused SHO for receiving a bribe of Rs 15,000 through his gunman in the presence of two official witnesses. The PHG volunteer has received the bribe money on behalf of SHO and escaped his arrest. The VB team was hunting for his arrest in this case, he added.
In this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused police personnel at VB police station Ferozepur. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
