Meet Hayer hails pro-people and development-oriented budget and common men’s progressive Budget

Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer on Friday welcomed the budget presented in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the year 2023-24. He termed it pro-people, development-oriented and common men’s progressive budget. Meet Hayer congratulated Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema for presenting a budget that would lay the foundation stone of Rangla Punjab.

The minister said that Rs. 125 Cr has been earmarked for farmers for direct sowing of paddy and moong crops. Last year there was a 30 per cent reduction in stubble-burning cases and in this year there will be a further decline in stubble-burning.

Water Resources Minister Meet Hayer while divulging the details of major announcements made for his departments, said that the budget of the Water Resources Department has been increased by 15 per cent from last year to a total of Rs 2630 Cr budget for cleaning and strengthening canals to provide better irrigation facilities to farmers through canal water.

Sports Minister further said that the budget of the sports department has an outlay of Rs. 258 Cr, which is 55 per cent more than last year giving a boost to the sports sector. Rs 55 Cr has been earmarked for Sports University and its affiliated colleges. Rs 77 Cr have been earmarked for the Department of Governance Reforms for e-governance projects to provide better, more convenient and transparent civic services to the people.
