Liquor price to go up in Himachal Pradesh from April 1

Chandigarh: In Himachal Pradesh, alcoholics are going to suffer a big setback from April 1. Alcohol and beer addiction will be expensive in the state from April 1. Consumers will have to pay Rs 17 cess per bottle.

The state government’s revenue-earning campaign is going to take a toll on the pockets of consumers.
The Tax and Excise Department has issued a notification in this regard. Earlier, a cess of Rs 7 per bottle was to be paid in Himachal. This time the government has imposed an additional cess of Rs 10 in lieu of milk cess.
Milk cess has been imposed on English and country liquor, beer, wine and foreign liquor. Apart from this, Rs 2.50 per bottle will be charged for Godhan Development Fund.
At the time of corona crisis in the state, the government had changed the name of this cess to Covid Cess. Now the Covid Cess has been closed and its name has been changed to Cow Cess. A cess of Rs 1.50 per bottle will be taken in the name of Excise Development Fund. Rs 2 per bottle will go to the Panchayati Raj institutions. One rupee cess will be given to the Health Department for ambulance services.
Overall, consumers will have to pay a cess of Rs 17 per bottle of liquor and beer during the financial year 2023-24.
