Students take to the streets of Toronto to protest against the deportation
Toronto: A protest was held in front of the Toronto office of Immigration and Refugee Canada (IRCC) today in support of 700 Indian students facing deportation orders due to agent fraud.
Varun Khanna, a leader of the Montreal Youth Students Organisation of Jagraon, led the protest along with Harinder Singh Meharok, Chamandeep Singh and others.
Though the Jalandhar police have registered a case against three persons and arrested one person in connection with the case, the protest was held to demand a decision in favour of these students.
The 700 students, mostly Punjabis, arrived in Toronto about two-and-a-half years ago to study.
Canadian colleges, the Canadian Border Service Agency and other government institutions should have viewed the papers before students entered Canada, the leaders said. Now it is not justified in any way to break all the broken heads on the students. They demanded that the Canadian government, instead of deporting the victims of fraud, should help them move forward in life.
