Chief Secretary Mr Vijay Kumar Janjua bats for expediting the approval for pending vigilance cases in larger public interest

Reiterates zero tolerance policy of Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government against corruption

Chandigarh: Reiterating zero tolerance policy of state government against corruption, the Punjab Chief Secretary Mr Vijay Kumar Janjua on Tuesday directed all the departments to expedite the pending vigilance cases in their respective departments to further check menace of corruption.

Chairing a meeting here at his office, the Chief Secretary said that in consonance with the commitment of Punjab government led by Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann stern action should be taken against the corrupt officers. All the cases under the Sections 17A and 19 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 be disposed off in a time bound manner. He took notice of the several cases pending in the various departments.

Mr Janjua said that this needs to be checked with right earnest so that the drive against the corruption can be taken to its logical conclusion.

The Chief Secretary emphasised the need to expedite such cases in the larger public interest. He reviewed the pendency of each and every case from the concerned administrative secretaries and asked them to ensure that these cases are cleared in a fast track and result oriented mode. Mr Janjua further said that he will personally review the progress of these cases regularly so that it is put on fast track mode.

Meanwhile during the meeting the officers apprised the Chief Secretary that out of pending cases approval has been accorded to 14 cases and rest are also being examined.
