Farmers lock gates of PSPCL headquarters, government work stalled, road jams

Patiala: All the three gates of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) headquarters in Patiala have been locked by farmers. Due to this, no employee has reached the office today and all the government work has come to a standstill.
Farmers affiliated to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) continued their sit-in outside the PSPCL office for the second day today.
The farmers had closed the gates of PSPCL on Thursday afternoon. Due to this, various employees, including women, were kept inside till midnight. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Patiala, Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, rushed to the spot and rescued the personnel.
PSPCL officials said that due to the continuation of the farmers’ sit-in, the work of the office came to a complete standstill since Friday morning.
On the other hand, the city’s lifeline Mall Road has also come to a standstill due to which the traffic problem of the city has become serious. People said that earlier unemployed people had blocked the road by staging a sit-in for several days and soon after that, the farmers blocked the road and created a serious traffic situation.
They said that the administration should pay immediate attention to this aspect.
