Visa fraud case: Personal scrutiny will determine the future of students
Ontario: Canada’s Immigration Minister Sean Fraser, reacting to media reports on the issue of Indian students facing the threat of deportation, has clarified that he has not yet given any assurance about the future of the entire students. He said a decision in this regard would be taken after examining the files of deported students at the individual level, which could be different for each.
The Housing Minister said that such students who are mostly from India will be given an opportunity of hearing to find out whether they are victims or they were aware of this fraud. He said that students who are in Canada for the purpose of studies will be considered as victims, but those who have come under the purview of education with the intention of permanent residence (PR) will be sent back under all circumstances.
The minister said that instructions have been given to the officials of the Canada Border Security Agency (CBSA) in this regard, further action will be taken only after hearing each student and testing the truth.
