New Delhi: Shahbaz Ansari, accused of supplying weapons in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, has escaped once again, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has said.
Ansari was arrested in December 2022 from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
In February 2023, he was granted interim bail for five days citing his wife’s pregnancy but failed to return, violating bail conditions. His subsequent bail pleas were repeatedly rejected following NIA objections.
Last month, Ansari sought interim bail again, citing his wife’s surgery, but escaped soon after his release. According to the NIA, his current location is untraceable, his phone is switched off, and the number he was using is registered under a person from Assam.
The agency informed the court that Ansari is no longer residing at the Ghaziabad address provided to the court.
The NIA report revealed that multiple weapons were recovered from Ansari during his arrest and that he had repeatedly supplied arms to the Bishnoi gang, earning large sums through hawala transactions.
The investigation also revealed that individuals offering bail guarantees for Ansari were allegedly prepared to do so in exchange for money.
