Chandigarh: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a by-election for the Tarn Taran Assembly seat in Punjab.
With the announcement, the model code of conduct has come into effect in Tarn Taran district.
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said that the official notification for the by-election will be issued on October 13 as per the schedule released by the ECI. He said the last date for filing nominations is October 21, followed by the scrutiny of nomination papers on October 22.
The final date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24, 2025.
