Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has enforced strict rules on visa applications of single women pilgrims visiting Pakistan after a case in which Sarabjit Kaur from Punjab travelled there and did not return. She reportedly changed her name and married in Pakistan.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh said Sarabjit Kaur’s case should have been investigated properly in time. He said information in the media about her change of name and marriage shows she was already in contact with someone in Pakistan.
He questioned how the concerned agencies failed to notice the activity.
Singh criticised Sarabjit Kaur’s behaviour and said the SGPC will now take a stricter approach to such cases. He said the SGPC will not process visa applications of single women travelling alone to Pakistan in the future.
