Chandigarh: A case of alleged suicide has come to light after a 30-year-old man from Jalaldiwal village was found dead inside a hotel room in Ludhiana. The man allegedly shot himself in the head using his licensed revolver.
Notably, the man was scheduled to get married on January 16, nearly two weeks after the incident. According to information received, his home is barely four kilometres from the hotel and he had arrived there late at night in his own car.
Preliminary details suggest that the hotel room was locked from inside at the time of the incident. A liquor bottle was also reportedly recovered from the room.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Harjinder Singh, responding to media queries, said that initial investigation indicates the deceased had shot himself in the head. He said the exact cause of death is being ascertained and a forensic team from Ludhiana (Rural) has been called to conduct a detailed examination.
As per information, the hotel staff informed the deceased’s father, Jagroop Singh, about the incident. DSP Harjinder Singh and Raikot City police station in-charge Sub-Inspector Gursevak Singh reached the spot. Following the incident, a large number of villagers and local residents gathered outside the hotel.
Police said further investigation is underway and necessary legal action is being taken.
