New Delhi: Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 30 runs in Sunday’s first Indian Premier League match to officially qualify for the playoffs.
Playing at Wankhede Stadium, Rajasthan posted 205 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. In reply, Mumbai Indians could only manage 175 for 9 in their allotted overs.
With this result, Punjab Kings have been eliminated from the tournament.
Interestingly, no Rajasthan batter scored a half-century despite the team crossing the 200-run mark. Dhruv Jurel top-scored with 38 runs, while Jofra Archer smashed 32 off just 15 balls and Dasun Shanaka contributed 29 runs.
In the closing overs, Ravindra Jadeja and Nandre Burger added quick runs to take Rajasthan past the 200-run mark.
The final four teams to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs are Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
Bengaluru and Gujarat will face each other in Qualifier 1, while Hyderabad and Rajasthan will clash in the Eliminator.
