BJP Changing Colours Like a Chameleon; Double Standards on Water Issue in Haryana and Punjab Not Acceptable: Parminder Goldy

Chandigarh News (March 29): Leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), under the leadership of Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan, Punjab Youth Wing Working President Parminder Singh Goldy, and Mohali District President Prabhjot Kaur, staged a strong protest against Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini during his visit to Kurali and showed him black flags.

Punjab Youth leader Parminder Singh Goldy said that today they raised their voice against the BJP’s double standards. He stated that Nayab Saini and his associates are showing two faces. “On one hand, they go to Haryana and say ‘give us water, Punjab is not giving us water,’ and on the other hand, when they come to Punjab, they talk about Punjab’s welfare. This double standard is unacceptable. They change colors like a chameleon, but the people of Punjab understand everything. We will never allow them to succeed in Punjab,” he said.

Goldy further said that BJP claims to present itself as a model of development and talks about the Gujarat model. “However, when we look at the reality of Gujarat, we find that farmers there are facing hardships. Laws were brought against farmers, and only after hundreds of farmers across the country, including Punjab, sacrificed their lives in protest were those laws repealed. They claim to be well-wishers of farmers, but in reality, they bring policies that weaken agriculture,” he added.

Mohali District President Prabhjot Kaur said that the BJP-led central government has withheld Punjab’s Rural Development Fund. “During the floods, they had promised ₹1,600 crore in relief, but not a single rupee has been given to Punjab till date. Punjab suffered losses worth ₹20,000 crore, yet the central BJP government remained silent. This is a major betrayal of Punjab. They should be ashamed that instead of standing with Punjab in difficult times, they are misleading the people,” she said.

Prabhjot Kaur appealed to the aware people of Punjab not to fall for such statements. “Those who do not stand with Punjab in times of crisis can never work in the interest of Punjab. The real strength of Punjab lies in its people, and the people themselves will decide what is right for the state,” she added.

On this occasion, constituency organization in-charge Navdeep Saini, Vikas Mohan, District President Trade Wing Tarlochan Singh, District President Kisan Wing Jasbir Singh Balyali, State General Secretary Sanjeev Chaudhary, women leader Swaran Lata Sharma, and others were present.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Cabinet clears Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna; over 97% women to receive ₹1000–1500 monthly

₹9,300 crore earmarked as Punjab rolls out one of India’s largest women-centric DBT schemes ensuring financial independence & dignity

Punjab E News (29 March 2026): The Punjab Cabinet led by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday took several key decisions, including paving the way for the launch of the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna across Punjab, ensuring a monthly financial assistance of ₹1000 to all other women and ₹1500 to women from Scheduled Castes, benefiting more than 97% of women in Punjab. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by the Chief Minister.

Disclosing this, the Chief Minister’s Office said, “Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna (State Scheme) will be launched in the State. The Scheme makes a provision of a cash benefit of ₹1000 per month to all other women and ₹1500 per month to women from Scheduled Castes. This scheme will have a monumental effect on the upliftment of women by making them independent and empowering them. It will give them choice and, clubbed with financial literacy, it will promote savings, thrift and investment and will enable dignity in fulfilling their small desires.”

It further said, “Punjab has already made considerable progress in social welfare and human development indicators; however, a large number of women across the state, particularly those belonging to economically vulnerable households, continue to lack independent financial security. Strengthening women’s financial autonomy is essential for improving household welfare, promoting gender equity, and enhancing women’s participation in social and economic decision-making.”

Highlighting the scale of the initiative, the CM Office added, “The scheme is expected to benefit more than 97% of women, making it one of the most comprehensive women-centric social protection initiatives in the country. The scheme represents a landmark step towards ensuring direct economic support to women across the state and reflects the Government’s vision that women’s empowerment must translate into tangible financial independence.”

The scheme has been designed as a Direct Benefit Transfer initiative, under which financial assistance will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries. There will be no restriction on the number of eligible women in a family who may avail benefits under the scheme, and existing social security pensioners will also continue to receive full financial benefits under this scheme in addition to their pensions, significantly enhancing its reach and impact.

Women aged 18 years or above, registered as a voter in Punjab and possessing a valid Aadhaar card reflecting Punjab residency along with a valid Voter ID issued by the Election Commission of India, shall be eligible to be enrolled as a beneficiary under the scheme.

To ensure effective last-mile delivery, the Bhagwant Mann Government will undertake extensive outreach and enrolment efforts, including mobilisation support to assist women in completing documentation, activating bank accounts and ensuring seamless registration, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

Reinforcing the scale of the initiative, a sum of ₹9,300 crore has already been sanctioned in the Budget for the financial year 2026–27 and, given the scale and outreach of the scheme, it is expected to become one of the largest women-centric social welfare initiatives undertaken by the Government of Punjab.

BJP–Akali Dal pushed drugs into every household in Punjab, Amit Shah must apologise to people: Arvind Kejriwal

Punjab hasn’t forgotten era when drug smugglers operated from ministers’ homes & peddlers delivered drugs under police protection: Arvind Kejriwal

Punjab E News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah apologise to the people of Punjab, emphasising that the BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) governments had pushed drugs into every household in the state. The AAP Supremo asserted that the AAP government led by CM Bhagwant Mann is sending those responsible to jail and fighting a decisive battle against drugs with public support.

Referring to a video clip of Union Home Minister Amit Shah speaking about ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab,’ AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal shared it on X and stated, “Amit Shah ji, you should apologise to the people of Punjab for taking drugs to every household in the state. People have not forgotten the dark era of BJP and Akali Dal, when international drug smugglers found shelter in ministers’ homes, and peddlers were escorted across the state in police vehicles with armed security to deliver drugs door to door. With what face are you talking about ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab’ today?”

Speaking further, he said, “Now we are sending the ministers responsible for that period to jail, and they are being punished for their crimes. Today, it is not the people who are waiting for your government in Punjab, but the big drug traffickers who had to flee the state due to the strict action of our government.”

Targeting the BJP’s governance, he added, “If you are so concerned about drugs, then why don’t you first activate your ‘double engine’ in Gujarat? Drugs worth ₹20,000 crore were seized at Mundra Port, so why did you not send the port owner to jail? According to the CAG report, 2300 kg of drugs were eaten by rats in police custody in Gujarat. Is this believable? Clearly, those drugs were stolen from custody and sold in the market, destroying countless homes.”

Concluding his remarks, the AAP Chief asserted, “First fix Gujarat, then talk about Punjab. In Punjab, the government of Bhagwant Mann is fighting a decisive battle against drugs with the support of the people. Punjab has not forgotten, will not forget, and will not forgive the dark era of Akali Dal and BJP.”
