Vrindavan: Aniruddhacharya, a well-known narrator from Vrindavan in Mathura, has once again found himself in controversy after an old video of him making objectionable remarks about women went viral on social media.

In the video, Aniruddhacharya, who heads the Gauri Gopal Ashram in Vrindavan, is seen saying during a discourse, “Earlier, when they got married at the age of 14, girls used to mingle with the family. But now when 25-year-old girls come into the house, they have already intimated with someone else.” The comments drew sharp criticism online, with many netizens calling them highly objectionable.

Women advocates in Mathura have strongly protested against the remarks. They met Mathura SSP Shlok Kumar and submitted a written complaint demanding strict action against Aniruddhacharya. The women advocates also held a meeting on Thursday and warned of further protests if action is not taken.

The Bar Association of Mathura has extended its support to the protesting women advocates. Its president, Pradeep Sharma, described the remarks as “shameful and objectionable” and said, “We oppose this and demand strict action against such saints.”

Aniruddhacharya has previously courted controversy over his statements, with allegations of making objectionable comments about God and women in the past as well.
