Amritsar: A 43-year-old woman from Nagpur, Sunita Jangde, who illegally crossed the Line of Control (LoC) after allegedly falling in love with a Pakistani priest, has been handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) by Pakistani Rangers at the Attari border in Amritsar.

According to officials, Sunita had gone missing on May 14 while on a holiday in Ladakh with her 14-year-old son. She reportedly left her son at the hotel and crossed into Pakistan from Hunderman village in Kargil, a border village located just a few kilometres from the LoC.

From Kargil, she is believed to have travelled to the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Investigations revealed that Sunita had been in contact with two Pakistani nationals — one a priest, the other identified as a man named Zulfiqar.

Authorities say phone records, social media activity, and mobile app usage show she had made two prior attempts to enter Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border but was stopped by Indian security agencies both times.

Sources added that some local individuals might have helped her cross the border from the remote village in Kargil. Police have detained and are currently interrogating one suspect in connection with the case.
