London: At least 50 people were injured after a car ploughed into a crowd during a ‘victory parade’ organised by fans to celebrate Liverpool’s Premier League title, police said.
Of the injured, 27 were admitted to hospital, with two—an adult and a child—reported to be in critical condition. Twenty others received treatment at the scene.
Emergency responders said four of those hospitalised were children. Firefighters also rescued four people who were trapped under the vehicle following the incident.
Police have arrested the driver, identified as a 53-year-old British man from the Liverpool area. Authorities said initial investigations suggest the incident is not related to militancy.
